Greensboro College. The Department of Sociology invites applications for two tenure-track/continuing contract positions effective August 2009. Successful applicants will have a Ph.D. in sociology or criminal justice and exceptional teaching skills. We are a small department of generalists that welcome individuals with a variety of interests. The first hire will be in Sociology at the assistant level. Teaching responsibilities will include a broad range of courses that may include introduction to sociology, social stratification, gender, sociology of knowledge and theory. The second position will be in our new Criminal Justice major at the assistant or associate level depending on the experience of the hire. Classes for this position run from introductory level courses on the criminal justice system to criminology, research methods, and principles of investigation. Our CJ major is 4 years old and growing rapidly. A successful hire will most likely become the Director of Criminal Justice in 12 to 18 months after joining our institution. In addition to teaching courses at our main campus, all department members rotate to our two new branch programs.
